The Material

Light timber, natural linen, joints that simply hold

Fig. 03

Japandi is restraint made warm. We work in pale, kiln-dried oak and ash — and a quiet black-stained oak for contrast — finished in matte hardwax oil so the grain stays open and soft to the hand. Seats are wrapped in undyed linen and wool over webbed frames. Every joint is mortise-and-tenon or dowelled, left visible, never hidden behind a screw cap. The result ages gently through Kathmandu's dry winters and wet monsoons.

Lived in, loved in

“Seeing the low sofa at true size in the room preview told us instantly it would leave enough floor open. It feels like the room can finally breathe.”

“Swapped the oak table to the black-stained finish on screen, ordered it, and it arrived exactly as calm as it looked.”

06Good to know

Questions, answered

Can I change the wood or linen?

Yes — every finish in the studio is one we build to order. Pick the oak, ash or black-stain and the linen on screen, and we make that exact combination.

Are the dimensions accurate?

They are the true build dimensions in centimetres. Use the cm/inch toggle in the studio to plan the space around each piece — Japandi lives in the gaps.

Do you deliver and assemble?

We deliver and assemble across the Kathmandu Valley — Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur — usually within 2–3 weeks of order.

How do I pay?

A 50% deposit confirms your order (eSewa, Khalti or bank transfer); the balance is due on delivery.
